CASE 01

Bent Pin, ECU Connector

✓ Root cause found remotely
Problem
Intermittent communication faults across multiple modules. No consistent DTC. No fault stored between sessions.
Root Cause
Bent pin at position 16 in the main ECU connector, causing micro-interruptions under vibration. Invisible during static inspection.
Result
Shop located the pin using our step-by-step connector inspection procedure. Repaired. No modules replaced.

CASE 02

HV Insulation Failure, Junction Box

HVDesk

A team built
on real experience.

We know the feeling. EV in the bay, fault codes that don't add up, customer waiting, no clear next step. We've been on the other side of that problem hundreds of times.

HVDesk is built by specialists with over 40 years of combined hands-on experience. Tesla lead diagnostic technicians, independent shop veterans, and active technical support engineers at major EV manufacturers. We've worked on the exact platforms and exact faults your shop is dealing with right now.

This isn't generic advice. Every case gets a real person who reads the data, thinks through the fault tree, and writes a procedure that your tech can follow step by step. Because when your name is on the repair order, the diagnosis has to be right.

What shops are saying.

HVDesk is in early access. These are responses from initial beta cases.

"Had a 2022 Ioniq 5 refusing DC fast charging. Replaced the cable, same fault. Submitted to HVDesk with the scan data. Got back a clear procedure pointing to the CCS module. Measured exactly what they said, confirmed it. Ordered the part, car was out the same week. No guessing, no wasted parts."

RB
R. Baxter
Service Manager, Independent Shop, Georgia

"Tesla Model X, HVIL fault, car went into shutdown. We were about to start pulling the whole HV system. HVDesk walked us through an isolation sequence and pinpointed it to two connectors going into the battery pack. Water ingress, damaged seals. Fixed without replacing a single expensive part."

MT
M. Torres
Lead Tech, Multi-brand shop, California

"Intermittent noise from the drive unit on a Model 3. No consistent fault code. We sent video and live data. Response came back with a specific bearing check procedure. Confirmed worn bearing on the motor. Replaced it. No noise, no comebacks. Exactly the kind of structured guidance we needed."

Straight answers.

If you have a question not covered here, email us at support@hvdesk.com

Who actually answers my ticket?
+
A real person. Every case is assigned to a specialist based on platform and fault type. One of our senior specialists spent 8 years at Tesla as a Master Diagnostic Technician across Model S, 3, X, Y, and early Cybertruck, then moved into technical support at the manufacturer level. That's the background on your case. Not a generalist. Not a database lookup.
What if the 24h response time isn't met?
+
If we miss the SLA without communicating in advance, your ticket is free. No questions asked. The clock starts from submission during business hours (Mon-Sat, 12 PM – 6 PM EST). Cases submitted outside those hours start the clock at the next business day.
Do I need any special diagnostic equipment?
+
No. A standard OBD-II scanner is enough to get started. Better data, freeze frame, live data, OEM-level scan tool exports, all of that means a more precise diagnosis. But we work with whatever you've got. If we need something specific, we'll tell you exactly what and why.
Which EV brands are covered?
+
Tesla (all models including Cybertruck), Hyundai and Kia E-GMP platform (Ioniq 5/6, EV6/EV9), Rivian R1T/R1S, Chevrolet Bolt and EV lineup, Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning, Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.Buzz, BMW i-series, Lucid Air, Nissan Leaf and Ariya, Polestar 2. Have a brand not listed? Submit it anyway. Coverage varies by generation and we'll let you know upfront.
What does "first case free" actually mean?
+
Exactly what it says. Your first submitted case costs nothing. No credit card required. Same 24h SLA, same expert, same full procedure. It's a one-time offer per shop, not an ongoing free tier. After your first case, you choose whether to pay per ticket or go on a plan. We don't auto-bill anyone.
What if the diagnosis doesn't solve the problem?
Every ticket includes one round of free follow-up. You complete the procedure, report back what you found, and we refine the direction based on the results. Diagnostics is iterative. If the evidence changes, the hypothesis changes. If we genuinely can't provide actionable guidance for a case, we refund the ticket.
Is this legal? Can a remote consultant give repair guidance?
+
Yes. HVDesk provides technical consulting and information, similar to a tech hotline, repair database, or any specialist you'd call for advice. The licensed repair shop and its technicians perform the actual work and hold full responsibility for the repair. This is a standard consulting arrangement, legal in all US states.
Can I get a refund if I'm not happy?
+
If we can't provide actionable diagnostic guidance for any reason, the ticket is refunded. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time with no penalty. The current month is non-refundable once started, but you keep access until the period ends. We don't want your money if we haven't earned it.
How do I submit a case? Do I need an account?
+
Create a free shop account at HVDesk.com. Takes under a minute. Fill out the case form with vehicle details, fault codes, and what you've already tried. The whole thing takes 5-10 minutes. You track the case and get your response directly in the portal. No back-and-forth emails.
How is this different from Identifix or Mitchell 1?
+
Identifix runs $179/month, is phone-based, ICE-focused, and pulls from community-sourced fixes of mixed quality. Mitchell 1 is a repair data platform. It gives you wiring diagrams and specs, not a diagnosis. HVDesk is EV-only, written by a specialist with hands-on OEM experience on these exact vehicles, delivered in writing you can put in front of your tech the same day. Different product, different problem.

Remote EV Diagnostic Support & Troubleshooting

HV Desk provides remote diagnostic support for electric vehicles. If you're dealing with fault codes, charging issues, communication errors, or unclear symptoms, we help you understand what's actually happening and what to test next.

Our service is designed for workshops and auto repair shops that need expert help with electric vehicle diagnostics. Instead of guessing or replacing parts blindly, you get structured guidance based on real-world troubleshooting experience across multiple EV platforms.

We analyze DTC fault codes, vehicle symptoms and behavior, previous repair attempts, and diagnostic reports from scan tools and VDS data. Based on this, we provide a clear, step-by-step troubleshooting approach tailored to your specific case.

Common cases include: EV not charging (AC and DC issues), intermittent faults with no clear DTCs, communication issues between modules (CAN and LIN), ADAS and sensor-related problems, battery and HV system concerns, and post-repair or post-update issues. If you're searching for electric vehicle diagnostic help, EV troubleshooting support, or a second opinion on EV faults, HV Desk gives you expert-level insight without needing additional tools or on-site visits.
